You don't remember the name. You remember what it was about.

Find any file by what's inside it.

Windows 10 & 11 · your files never leave your PC

Stratum 01 · the problem

Your files aren't lost.
They're buried.

Somewhere in the thousands of files on your PC is the one you need right now: a flight booking, last quarter's budget, or the contract a client signed. You remember what's in it. You just don't remember what you called it, or where you put it.

Name search can't help you, because the name is 8801.pdf. Exact-word search can't either, because you don't remember the exact words. So you dig through folders by hand, like it's 1998.

You don't need the file's name or where you saved it. Describe what you remember, and Undig digs it up.

every drive is a dig site

Try it yourself

The dig site is open.

Search the Foxglove & Co. demo library in your own words. Every file in it is listed here, so you know exactly what's buried down there.

try

A lightweight simulation of the ranking, running right here in your browser. The real app runs the full search against your actual files, on your PC, offline.

Stratum 02 · the method

Three moves.

01

Point it at your folders

Undig reads inside your files: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, PDF and text files. It builds a private index on your machine, and nothing on your drive leaves it.

02

Search in plain language

Type the way you'd describe the file to a person: “the note worrying that a key employee might quit”. No special symbols, no exact words.

03

See why it matched, then open it

Every result shows its receipts: the exact sentences inside the file that matched. Enter opens it, and a fast shortcut shows it in its folder.

Stratum 03 · the ground rules

Your files stay on your PC.

Your files, what's inside them and what you search for are never uploaded, encrypted or otherwise.

Works offline

No cloud, no account, no login. Everything Undig needs to search lives on your disk.

Never watches your screen

No screenshots and no recording. It only reads the documents in the folders you choose.

No server in between

Nothing you search for touches a server. Once setup is done, Undig doesn't need one to keep working.

Your index is yours

The index Undig builds stays on your own disk. There's no copy of it anywhere else.

Pull your network cable.

offline · still searching

It still searches.

first in line

Waitlist members get the launch email before any public announcement.

early supporter discount

The launch email carries a private discount. We won't publish it anywhere else.

Stratum 05 · questions

Straight answers.

It finds files on your Windows PC by what's inside them. Describe a file the way you remember it, like “the receipt for my new phone”. Undig searches by meaning, so it can find the file even when the name is useless and the wording doesn't match yours. Each result shows the sentences that matched.

Stratum 06 · what's next

Still digging.

Coming soon to Undig.

01

Scans and photos

02

More file types

Search other kinds of files, email among them.

Dig up your first lost file.

The files you think you've lost are still there. Undig just knows what they're about. Be there the day it ships.
